Rules for recruiting students for study mobility under the Erasmus+ programme

Recruitment rules for the 2023/2024 academic year

  1. Under the Erasmus+ Programme, a student of Wyższa Szkoła Lingwistyczna (WSL) may travel exclusively to a partner university holding an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education, with which the university has signed an appropriate agreement, within the places, fields of study and student proficiency levels agreed upon in that agreement (the list of bilateral agreements is included in Annex 1).

  2. The purpose of a student's mobility under Erasmus is to complete part of their studies at a partner university abroad.

  3. The student travels to a partner university abroad for a specified period and completes their study programme there, while remaining a WSL student and retaining their student rights in Poland.

  4. The host university does not charge an incoming student tuition-related fees (registration fees, tuition fees, examination fees, etc.). The student pays tuition fees at WSL in accordance with the rules set out in the fees and charges regulations.

  5. Studies under Erasmus may not be shorter than 3 months (trimester studies) or longer than 12 months.

  6. A student may be granted the right to participate in mobility under the Erasmus + Programme for no longer than 12 months during one study cycle.

  7. Application forms are available on the website www.wsl.edu.pl and at the WSL International Relations Office.

  8. A student selected for mobility under the Erasmus+ Programme must meet the following formal criteria:
    a) be officially registered in a first- or second-cycle programme at WSL,
    b) at the time of departure, be at least a second-year student of a first-cycle programme or a student of a second-cycle programme;

  9. A grant-supported mobility under the Erasmus+ Programme during the final semester of studies is not possible.

  10. The student's selection for mobility abroad under the Erasmus+ Programme is determined by the total number of points obtained as follows:
    – the grade average from the winter semester of the academic year preceding the mobility abroad, multiplied by 2 – max. 10 points,
    – the group supervisor's opinion – from 0 to 4 points,
    – knowledge of the host university's language of instruction – max. 5 points:
    a. if studies at the host university are conducted in a language corresponding to the language of the candidate's specialisation, students of the Filologia programme receive 5 points,
    b. students of the Pedagogika programme take a written examination in the foreign language that is the host university's language of instruction. The examination result is worth from 0 to 5 points;
    c. persons holding B2-level certificates confirming knowledge of the foreign language in which studies are conducted at the host university receive 5 points (the list of certificates recognised in the recruitment process constitutes Annex 2 to these regulations).

  11. Recruitment for study mobilities abroad under Erasmus takes place once a year. If not all places/grants are used, WSL may announce a second recruitment round. The detailed recruitment schedule is announced on the noticeboards of the International Relations Office and on the university website www.wsl.edu.pl.

  12. The selection of candidates is carried out by the University Erasmus Scholarship Committee (the composition of the Committee is included in Annex 3 to these regulations), which draws up a list of students initially selected for mobility.

  13. The list of selected applicants will be announced on www.wsl.edu.pl by:
    May 2024 – for the winter semester 2023/2024

  14. The selected candidates for mobility, within the deadline specified in the recruitment schedule, submit the following documents to the International Relations Office:
    – application form (Application Form – an internal form of the host university),
    – Learning Agreement,
    – accommodation application form (an internal form of the host university, if applicable),
    – bank details form (Euro foreign-currency account).

  15. The final condition for participation in the Programme is approval of the student's candidacy by the host university, which gives final approval to the documents submitted by the WSL International Relations Office.

  16. A student selected for mobility receives a grant (scholarship) intended to cover additional costs related to travel and stay at the partner university. The grant is not intended to cover the full costs associated with staying abroad. Information on the amount of this grant is announced by WSL in the document “Rules for the allocation, awarding and payment of the Erasmus grant to students, academic teachers and administrative staff” for the academic year 2023/2024. The document is available on the website www.wsl.edu.pl.

  17. WSL undertakes to recognise the period of study completed at the partner university as equivalent to the period of study in Poland (the mobility does not extend the duration of studies), provided that the student completes the study programme agreed before departure in the document “Learning Agreement” and obtains a minimum of 30 ECTS credits per semester.

  18. The student is required to provide their home university with a document confirming the results obtained at the university abroad – “Transcript of Records”.

  19. If a student does not obtain all the credits required under the 'Learning Agreement’ and consequently does not obtain a minimum of 30 ECTS credits( per semester) at the host university, the student may pass the given course(or its equivalent at WSL) after returning to WSL. In such a situation, it is necessary to submit an appropriate application to the Dean of WSL.

  20. The student is required to complete the scholarship holder survey immediately after returning from the study period abroad and to complete the OLS language tests.
